The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Five college friends go to a cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway. But things go differently than planned.
Drew Goddard directed the movie, and Joss Whedon, who wrote Firefly, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and The Avengers, helped write it. The film has Whedon’s sharp humor, intelligent main characters, scary monsters, and great scares.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that The Cabin in the Woods was nominated for an Oscar. Movies Starring Chris Hemsworth, The script was a big hit and got a lot of praise for how well it used horror tropes and how surprising and fast-paced it was.
The movie also has a strong female lead and a lot of other great characters, like “The Director,” who is in charge of the ritual that will end the world and is played by Sigourney Weaver. She is an evil woman who wants to get what she wants, but Dana and Marty stop her before she can do more harm.
12 Strong (2012)
Chris Hemsworth is best known for his role as Thor, but in the movie 12 Strong, he plays a Green Beret Captain. His character is based on ODA 595 Green Beret commander Mark Nutsch, who, in the scary days after 9/11, led a secret mission into Afghanistan on horseback.
Movies Starring Chris Hemsworth gives a good performance, and he knows how to deal with the emotional weight of his role. He’s not a highly complex character, but he keeps things moving in the movie so it doesn’t get too dull.
The movie is a fun war drama with a lot of potential. It does an excellent job of showing how important friendship and working together are when there is a lot of danger. Hemsworth’s performance is especially good when paired with Navid Negahban as General Dostum. Dostum gives the Green Berets essential “boots on the ground” support and becomes a key player in their success.
Based on the book Horse Soldiers, the movie 12 Strong is about a group of American soldiers who went to Afghanistan in 2001 to help with a secret mission. Even though the conditions were challenging, none of the 12 soldiers who were on the mission died.
Extraction (2020)
Extraction is a 2020 action movie starring Chris Hemsworth that is fast-paced and exciting. Sam Hargrave directed it, and Hemsworth plays a mercenary hired to save the son of an international drug lord who has been taken hostage.
Hemsworth’s character is a mercenary who is very tough and has a lot of different weapons. He also wears a torn hoodie and a cape, and he looks like a man used to being rough and tumble.
The reason to see Extraction is because of the action scenes. Hemsworth fights off multiple enemies with a rake and disarms a group of child soldiers without killing them. These scenes are intense and very well-staged.
It’s a big-budget Netflix action movie, and if you can get past the fact that it doesn’t have a good story, it’s great. Hargrave, who worked on Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame and Atomic Blonde as a stunt coordinator and second unit director, is a master of action scenes and deserves all the credit for the movie’s success.
Agent H (2016)
Hemsworth got his start like most Australian actors do: on TV shows like Guinevere Jones (2002–2007) and Home and Away (1999-07). After he moved to New York, he played Jim Kirk’s father in the 2009 movie Star Trek.
Hemsworth went on to be in several Marvel movies, including Thor (2011) and Thor: Ragnarok (2017). He was also in Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) and The Huntsman: Winter’s War, a sequel to that movie.
Agent H is a Men in Black (MIB) agent in London. He goes on dangerous missions without caring about safety or the rules. This is a problem for both High T, the leader of the agency (played by Liam Neeson), and the audience.
Hemsworth’s character is paired with Tessa Thompson’s Agent M and given the task of looking into the death of Vungus, an alien who gave M a powerful crystal. As they go undercover, they end up in a dangerous alien dance club and fight two twins who use pure energy to hurt them. After saving M, they discover that the crystal is a weapon powered by a giant blue star.
